DellTalk

Hello. After providing assistance on Dell's Community Forum for many years (posting over 30,000 times), I dramatically reduced my participation on the forum in early 2007, after attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (courtesy of Dell).  My attendance at the show had one purpose - to be a part of a small group (less than 10) forum participants meeting with Michael to have a frank discussion.  Unfortunately, that meeting turned into a much larger meeting including bloggers and press, and the purpose of the meeting wasn't accomplished.  It was an event directed by the PR Department at Dell, and solely done for PR - not to make things better.  As 2007 and 2008 went on, it was clear to me that Dell had lost its way, and clearly they had no idea how to fix the situation.  The company is clearly focused on moving the most units through retail that it can, and dealing directly with the consumer doesn't have the priority (or profit) that it once did.  With my lack of participation on the forums, and the reality that I haven't purchased a new computer from Dell since my laptop in the summer of 2005 so I lack current knowledge of Dell's systems (I remember when an Inspiron was a notebook computer, not either a notebook or desktop computer...), and the lack of people saying thank you when I did help them (,  I decided to stop answering Dell-specific questions.

Since then, I have exclusively purchased Lenovo notebook computers, currently owning a ThinkPad T400 and a ThinkPad W510.  I found both units far superior to Dells in nearly every respect.

If you landed on this page, you likely came from whatever it is that they call the Dell forum.  If so, please bookmark my site and use it to find things on the web, including computers from everywhere but Dell.

Thank you.
