OBi
OBi. What's that? Obi, or more correctly Obihai Technology, is an exciting new company founded by the people that include the founders of Sipura, which was bought by Linksys.
Launched in late 2010, the OBi110 and Obi100 are devices that quite simply,
allow you to make free calls on the internet. It's different than other devices
because of several things, including it's usage of Google Voice. I believe it's
the only device that utilizes Google Voice.
I own an OBi110, purchased in mid December 2010. I have successfully
dumped my AT&T landline, porting my number to Google Voice (total cost under
$40), setting up my under $50 OBi110 with its easy menus, which also gives me
great Google Voice capabilities including the transcription of voicemails and
sending of those voicemails via text and email messages.
Hookup took under 1 minute, setup took under an hour including setting up
E911 at Callcentric. You can't beat this solution.
