RDRAM is very high-priced and not sold in a lot of places.  The info below has been compiled over the years and provides you with the exact sticks you need.  Newegg has great prices, remember to buy 2 sticks of whatever memory you buy as they must be installed in matched sets except where noted.  I've compiled a list of what IS the correct memory for the following systems, since Newegg doesn't have memory for the 8250, I've listed links to ZipZoomFly (too bad, because NewEgg is cheaper in general):

Dell Dimension 8200 and 8100 - uses PC800 RDRAM, and the Dell Bxxxr machines. The 8200 and 8100 require memory be added in pairs, the Bxxxr takes single sticks.  Some machines use 40ns memory, some 45ns memory.  All these are 40ns memory, which will work in all models.

SAMSUNG 128MB 184-Pin RDRAM (16bit), SAMSUNG 256MB 184-Pin RDRAM (16bit), SAMSUNG 512MB 184-Pin RDRAM (16bit)

Dell Dimension 8250 - uses PC1066 RDRAM.  1.5GB max.  Install in pairs.  However, if you have the 2.0ghz model, it uses PC800 RAM just like the 8200 below.

128mb Samsung 1066 RDRAM from ZipZoomFly, 256mb Samsung 1066 RDRAM from ZipZoomFly, 512mb Samsung 1066 RDRAM from ZipZoomFly

The 8100 often came with PC600 memory.  Boot into BIOS and check yours.  If it's PC600, consider tossing it.

The Bxxxr machines also have PC600, PC700, or PC800.  Boot into BIOS and check.  Then use PC800 memory, which does NOT have to be installed in pairs on the Bxxxr machines.

Common Questions:

- Can I replace my RDRAM with another type of memory that's cheaper or more available?    Answer - No.

- Does the 8250, 8200 and 8100 memory HAVE TO be installed in matched pairs?  Answer - Yes.

- Is my memory 16 bit or 32 bit?   Answer - 16 bit in all Dell computers.  32 bit will NOT work.

- What speed is the memory that I have?   Answer - The 8100 often came with PC600 memory.
